Thank you for your interest in our club                           25th June 2008

We welcome anybody over 18 who is interested in mountaineering and who is already an active walker, climber or mountaineer.

Our members mostly live in and around the Craven area of West Yorkshire, East Lancashire and Skipton in North Yorkshire but we also have members living much further afield.

We are a friendly and enthusiastic group with around 90 members and a full programme of climbing, mountaineering and hill walking activities. Occasionally we find time to venture into other activities too! (eg. caving, mountain biking) We are affiliated to the BMC.

We generally have Saturday and/or Sunday outdoor meets on most weekends throughout the year. Between spring and autumn we meet up at local crags for evening climbing usually on a Tuesday.

We have meets in Scotland, Wales and other parts of the country as well as locally. On our way back from the Lakes or Settle area we often stop off at the Maypole Inn in Long Preston for a nice meal and/or refreshments. Members often go further afield to the Alps or sun rock venues like the Verdon Gorge or Spain.

During the winter on some weekday evenings the climbers meet at local indoor walls. We also have social meets on alternate Thursday evenings at a venue in Skipton, (slide shows, guest speakers, etc...) There are also regular weekend meets, either in mountain huts or camping.

There is a regular Club Newsletter containing Meets information, members' articles and other topics of interest. This year (2008) membership costs £16 which automatically confers ("club") membership of the BMC to each member giving access to all BMC services and also world-wide third party liability insurance.

Members are entitled to discounts at many outdoor pursuits shops.

We expect you to come on three outdoor meets before you apply for Club membership.

You will appreciate that climbing and mountaineering are high risk activities;
that you need to enter into them voluntarily
and be responsible for your own actions and involvement.

If you would like more information about the Club or our activities please Email us.

We look forward to hearing from you

Thanks for dropping in.
